Route overview
A classic and physically demanding high-level horseshoe traversing the heart of the Mamores. Starting from Glen Nevis, this classic circuit links four Munros via spectacular, narrow ridges and airy scrambles. It offers a superb, sustained mountain day with exceptional views of the Ben Nevis massif and the surrounding Highlands.
Terrain and underfoot
Underfoot conditions vary from well-defined mountain paths to rough, rocky ridges. The route features several sections of exposed, grade 1 scrambling, notably along the rocky arête of An Garbhanach and the narrow crest of the Devil's Ridge. The initial crossing of the Water of Nevis via a three-cable wire bridge or a wade, which can become impassable when the river is in spate. Descents are sustained and exceptionally steep, particularly the final drop from Sgùrr a' Mhaim.
