Stob Bàn (Grey Corries)
Stob Bàn (Grey Corries)
Route overview
This rewarding out-and-back route climbs the striking quartzite peak of Stob Ban from the north. Following the historic Lairig Leacach pass, the route offers straightforward valley walking before a steep, dramatic ridge climb. It provides an excellent, focused outing to a single Munro, showcasing superb views of the neighbouring Grey Corries and the rugged peaks of Lochaber.
Terrain and underfoot
The approach follows a well-defined land vehicle track through the Lairig Leacach pass, crossing a river via a footbridge near the bothy. The ascent ridge begins on a path that is initially boggy and wet underfoot. Higher up, the terrain becomes drier but increasingly steep, culminating in a rough, zig-zagging path near the cliff edge on the final pull to the summit.
