Route overview
This classic Torridon circuit tackles the two western Munros of the mighty Beinn Eighe ridge. Starting with a steep climb into Coire an Laoigh, the route traverses quartzite crests and sandstone terraces, visiting the spectacular Coire Mhic Fhearchair and its famous Triple Buttress. It is a magnificent, rugged outing showcasing the dramatic geological contrasts of the Northwest Highlands.
Terrain and underfoot
Underfoot conditions vary from well-constructed stalkers' paths to rough, trackless quartzite scree and sandstone slabs. The ascent up Coire an Laoigh is steep, while the ridge involves light scrambling. The descent from the western bealach into Coire Mhic Fhearchair is exceptionally steep, loose, and eroded, requiring careful footwork down a narrow scree chute. The outflow of Lochan Coire Mhic Fhearchair must be crossed to reach the return path.
