An outstanding and iconic Torridon mountain, Slioch rises dramatically above the shores of Loch Maree. Starting from Incheril, the route follows a scenic approach along the river and lochside before a steep, rugged climb leads to the high, open plateau. The return traverses the narrow eastern ridge to Sgùrr an Tuill Bhàin before a pathless descent.
Terrain and underfoot
The initial approach follows well-defined, low-level paths and tracks. The ascent becomes increasingly steep and rough, with eroded, rocky sections on the upper slopes of the ridge. The descent from Sgùrr an Tuill Bhàin is pathless and can be boggy underfoot, requiring careful route-finding to rejoin the main outward path at the bealach.
