This demanding outing explores the wild eastern reaches of the Mamores ridge, climbing two contrasting Munros. Starting from Kinlochleven, the route follows historic stalkers' paths deep into the hills to reach the isolated, stony cone of Binnein Beag and the steep, scree-clad pyramid of Sgùrr Èilde Mòr. It offers a rugged, high-ascent day with spectacular views across the Mamores.
Terrain and underfoot
The approach relies on excellent but occasionally boggy stalkers' paths. In contrast, the final climbs up both Munros are exceptionally steep, traversing loose scree, eroded paths, and boulder fields. A short, optional scramble leads to Binnein Beag's summit. Multiple small burn crossings are required along the way, though these are generally straightforward in normal conditions.
