Route overview
This classic Torridon outing pairs two fine Munros situated deep in the wild country south of Glen Carron. Starting with an approach along scenic forest tracks, the route climbs to a high pass before traversing a rocky, narrow ridge to Sgùrr Chòinnich and continuing to the higher Sgùrr a' Chaorachain, offering superb views of the Coulin forest.
Terrain and underfoot
The approach uses excellent estate tracks (well suited to biking), followed by a well-graded stalkers' path to the high pass. The ridge traverse is rocky with minor, straightforward scrambles over rock steps. The descent off Sgùrr a' Chaorachain is relentlessly steep, pathless, and boggy underfoot. Navigating this descent requires care, and the final crossing of the Allt a' Chonais can become impassable during periods of heavy rain or spate.
