Route overview

This short but highly dramatic outing from Glen Brittle climbs into the heart of the Cuillin ridge to bag two rugged Munros. Reaching the high notch of An Dorus opens up access to Sgùrr a' Mhadaidh and Sgùrr a' Ghreadaidh. Both peaks demand hands-on scrambling on steep, rough rock, offering spectacular, airy views over the serrated ridge and the Atlantic.

Terrain and underfoot

The approach begins on a well-constructed path before transitioning to eroded, rough trails and a stream crossing near a waterslide. The final ascent to the An Dorus gap is on exceptionally steep, loose scree and slabby rock. Beyond the notch, the route requires sustained, serious scrambling on steep rock, particularly the stiff climb onto Sgùrr a' Ghreadaidh. Excellent route-finding skills are essential on these complex, exposed crests.
