Route overview
This classic circular outing from the remote, roadless Corrour railway station climbs two gentler Munros. Offering a superb sense of space across Rannoch Moor, the route combines estate tracks, old historic paths, and pathless grassy ridges. It circles the eastern end of scenic Loch Ossian, providing a rewarding and logistically unique day in the Highlands.
Terrain and underfoot
Underfoot conditions are highly varied, featuring excellent estate tracks, a section of the historic Road to the Isles path, and extensive pathless, boggy moorland. The ascents and descents over the main ridges are generally broad but include some steep, pathless heather and grassy slopes. Navigation requires competence in poor visibility, particularly on the descent from Sgòr Gaibhre where steep eastern slopes must be avoided.
