Route overview

An exceptionally long and rewarding expedition to one of the more remote Munros. Starting from Inverlael, the route follows a long glen before climbing onto a vast, wild plateau. The highlight is the sudden, dramatic reveal of the sheer cliffs of Luchd Choire, contrasting beautifully with the rolling, desolate moorland of the approach.

Terrain and underfoot

The initial approach utilizes good forestry tracks and a well-constructed stalker's path. Higher up, the path fades into a pathless, peat-hagged plateau where navigation becomes highly demanding in poor visibility. A significant crossing of the Allt Gleann a' Mhadaidh is required, which can become impassable during periods of heavy rain or snowmelt.
