Stob Bàn (Mamores) and Mullach nan Coirean

Route overview

An outstanding circular walk in the western Mamores, combining the striking, quartzite-capped peak of Stob Ban with the contrasting red granite plateau of Mullach nan Coirean. Starting from Glen Nevis, the route offers a classic ridge traverse with superb views of the Ben Nevis massif and the surrounding highlands.

Terrain and underfoot

The route follows a well-graded stalker's path up Coire a' Mhusgain before climbing steeply onto the ridge. Underfoot terrain varies from shattered quartzite scree and rocky crests on Stob Ban to easier, grassy paths on Mullach nan Coirean. The final descent through the forest can be exceptionally boggy and steep in places, requiring careful footwork.
