Route overview

A demanding and exceptionally long expedition into the wild heart of the Cairngorms, traversing the vast, high-altitude plateau of the Moine Mhòr. This committing route conquers two remote Munros, offering a profound sense of isolation and superb, expansive views across the deep troughs of Glen Geusachan and the surrounding high peaks.

Terrain and underfoot

The walk begins on a well-constructed path climbing steadily from Glen Feshie, but soon transitions to the trackless, boggy, and highly exposed expanse of the Moine Mhòr plateau, where navigation is exceptionally difficult in poor visibility. Underfoot conditions include peat hags, a significant river crossing at the Allt Luinneag which can become impassable in spate, and a final, strenuous ascent over extensive boulder fields to reach the summit of Beinn Bhrotain.
