Route overview

This rewarding circular route explores two quieter Munros rising steeply above Glen Etive. Characterised by rugged, slabby ridges, deep corries, and expansive plateau views, the walk offers a classic Scottish mountain experience. It combines a scenic approach along the Allt Mheuran with a high-level traverse, showcasing the wild, rocky architecture of the Glen Etive hills.

Terrain and underfoot

The terrain is highly varied, starting with boggy and tussocky lower glen tracks before transitioning to steep, rocky slopes. The high ridges feature extensive granite slabs and complex, craggy ground. Navigation is demanding in poor visibility, particularly during the descent from Stob Coir'an Albannaich's eastern ridge and the steep, crag-strewn descent from Meall nan Eun into Coire Riabhach. Good route-finding skills are essential.
