Meall Chuaich
Meall Chuaich, Drumochter
Route overview
Situated on the northern edge of the Drumochter pass, Meall Chuaich is a straightforward and highly accessible Munro. The route utilises estate tracks alongside a hydro-electric aqueduct before climbing a broad, heathery ridge to the stony summit. It offers an uncomplicated half-day outing with expansive views across Badenoch and towards the Cairngorms.
Terrain and underfoot
The approach is on excellent, flat estate tracks running alongside an aqueduct and through the glen. The ascent of the hill itself is on a distinct but eroded and occasionally boggy path through the heather, which becomes drier and stonier on the upper slopes. Navigation is highly straightforward in good visibility, with no technical difficulties or scrambling required.
