Route overview
This classic circuit explores the scenic Glen Doll, ascending through the impressive Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve to reach the broad Mounth plateau. It links the two Munros of Mayar and Driesh, offering expansive views across the rolling uplands and towards the Firth of Tay. A popular and rewarding hillwalking day.
Terrain and underfoot
The route begins on well-maintained tracks and paths through Glendoll Forest. A good path then climbs steeply into Corrie Fee, becoming rougher as it ascends to the plateau. On the Mounth, the terrain is open moorland with an informal hill path, occasionally pathless, where navigation is aided by fence posts. The ascent to Driesh involves a rougher, initially steeper slope. Descent is on rough paths through forestry.

Getting there and parking
Driving and parking
Glen Doll, Mayar and Driesh
Use the overflow and upper part of Glen Doll car park during riverbank repairs. Works began on 24 August 2026 and are expected to last up to three months.
A formal car park with marked bays. Follow the temporary allocation during riverbank repairs.
- Cost and payment
- All-day parking costs £3 for cars or £10 for minibuses and coaches. Coins, card or RingGo are accepted; displayed Blue Badges park free.
- Before you go
- Unattended parking for overnight mountain access requires payment for each day. Sleeping or camping in vehicles is prohibited.
- Food and drink
- Glen Clova Hotel welcomes non-residents for meals in its restaurant and Climbers Bar. Book ahead for dinner.
- Facilities
- Carry coins and a card as a fallback. If signal is lacking, RingGo payment can be made up to 72 hours later. Payment QR codes are not used here.
