Maoile Lunndaidh
Maoile Lunndaidh
Route overview
This is a substantial outing to a sprawling, high-altitude plateau in the remote country south of Glen Carron. The route features a long, scenic approach along a well-graded glen track before transitioning to a trackless, boggy glen crossing and a steep, relentless climb onto the expansive summit crest, offering superb views of the Coulin forest.
Terrain and underfoot
The initial approach utilizes an excellent, bikeable estate track. Once this is left, the terrain becomes exceptionally boggy, rough, and trackless. The ascent is a steep, pathless grind up heather and grass, leading to a stony, undulating plateau where navigation requires care in poor visibility. Multiple burns must be crossed; these can become difficult during or after heavy rain.
