Route overview

This demanding circuit tackles Ladhar Bheinn, the magnificent crown of the Knoydart peninsula, starting from the remote settlement of Inverie. Accessible only by boat or a long walk-in, the route offers a superb mountain day. It traverses a rugged, undulating ridge with spectacular coastal and island views, before returning via a scenic glen.

Terrain and underfoot

Underfoot terrain is highly varied and physically demanding. The initial climb to Mam Suidheig is steep, pathless, and choked with dense bracken in summer. The high ridge features rough, rocky ground with minor, straightforward scrambling and some exposure. The descent through Coire Garbh is steep and rocky, leading to boggy glen paths. Navigational competence is essential, particularly in poor visibility on the complex ridge.
