Route overview

A classic, sprawling round in the southern Cairngorms, combining an easy approach on estate tracks with a journey into more secluded terrain. The route climbs the broad dome of Glas Tulaichean before dropping into the wilder, boggy troughs to reach the isolated peak of Càrn an Rìgh, returning via the scenic Loch nan Eun and the long trough of Gleann Taitneach.

Terrain and underfoot

Underfoot conditions are highly varied. The initial ascent utilizes a well-graded landrover track almost to the first summit. The transition to Càrn an Rìgh and the descent down Gleann Taitneach involve rougher, peatier paths, with several boggy sections and minor water crossings.
