This classic circuit explores the scenic Glen Doll, ascending through the impressive Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve to reach the broad Mounth plateau. It links the two Munros of Mayar and Driesh, offering expansive views across the rolling uplands and towards the Firth of Tay. A popular and rewarding hillwalking day.
Terrain and underfoot
The route begins on well-maintained tracks and paths through Glendoll Forest. A good path then climbs steeply into Corrie Fee, becoming rougher as it ascends to the plateau. On the Mounth, the terrain is open moorland with an informal hill path, occasionally pathless, where navigation is aided by fence posts. The ascent to Driesh involves a rougher, initially steeper slope. Descent is on rough paths through forestry.
