Route overview

A classic, high-level circuit of four Munros on the north side of beautiful Glen Lyon. This horseshoe walk traverses broad grassy ridges, stony plateaus, and the rocky peak of Càrn Mairg, offering expansive views across Perthshire, Rannoch Moor, and the Ben Lawers range.

Terrain and underfoot

The route follows estate tracks and clear mountain paths, with old fence posts providing a useful navigational aid across the high plateaus. Underfoot conditions are generally straightforward, though the ascent of Càrn Gorm and the final descent are steep. The summit of Càrn Mairg is notably rocky, requiring care over boulder-strewn ground and near craggy edges in poor visibility.
