Route overview

This classic, high-level traverse is one of the most celebrated ridge walks in the Highlands, taking in seven Munro summits in a single continuous line. Offering exceptional, expansive views over Kintail and Knoydart, the route follows an undulating crest. It is a physically demanding outing due to its length and cumulative ascent, requiring transport logistics between the start and finish.

Terrain and underfoot

Underfoot, the route features a well-defined, mostly grassy ridge path with excellent walking, though punctuated by short, rocky sections and minor scrambling. The initial ascent and final descent use stalker's paths, which can be boggy and rough in places. Navigation is generally straightforward in clear weather but requires care on the broad plateau sections. The final descent involves a burn crossing that may be difficult in spate if the footbridge is avoided.
