Route overview

This popular Cairngorms outing leads to the prominent summit of Bynack More, starting from the Caledonian pines of Glenmore. The route passes the scenic, green-hued Lochan Uaine before climbing onto the vast, open moors. A steady ascent along a well-defined path leads to the high granite tors and superb, expansive views from the summit.

Terrain and underfoot

The route follows excellent, well-maintained paths and land tracks for the majority of the journey. Underfoot conditions are generally dry and straightforward, though the final pull up the north ridge of Bynack More becomes steeper and more gravelly. Navigation is fairly intuitive in clear weather.
