Route overview

Often regarded as one of the most straightforward summits on the Black Cuillin ridge, Bruach na Frithe offers an accessible entry point to this dramatic mountain range. Starting from Sligachan, the route climbs through a scenic corrie to reach a high col, revealing spectacular views of the surrounding rock peaks and the famous Pinnacle Ridge.

Terrain and underfoot

The approach follows a clear, well-made path along the Allt Dearg Mòr before transitioning to rougher, pathless ground in Fionn Choire. The final ascent to the ridge is steep, climbing over loose scree and rocky slopes. While any serious scrambling can be bypassed, the upper sections require careful footwork. Navigation is exceptionally challenging in poor visibility due to complex topography and magnetic rock interference.
