Route overview
This exceptionally long expedition penetrates deep into the wild country of the Monar forest to claim two of Scotland's most remote Munros. Starting from Attadale, a lengthy approach track leads to Bendronaig Lodge before a rugged, pathless loop traverses the elegant peak of Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich and the high, craggy crest of Lurg Mhòr.
Terrain and underfoot
The initial approach follows a well-maintained estate track, ideal for mountain biking to reduce the long return journey. Beyond Bendronaig Lodge, the terrain transitions to stalkers' paths and eventually to rough, pathless mountain ground. Navigation is demanding in poor visibility, particularly on the complex, pathless descent over Sàil Riabhach. The ridges are steep and rocky, requiring careful footwork, but remain within the realm of walking rather than scrambling.
