Route overview

This classic Glen Etive circuit tackles two prominent Munros, offering a superb day of high-level ridge walking. Starting with a steep, relentless climb up Ben Starav's north ridge, the route rewards walkers with a dramatic, rocky traverse over Stob Coire Dheirg before continuing over the undulating crest to Glas Bheinn Mhòr and returning via a scenic glen.

Terrain and underfoot

The terrain is varied and physically demanding, featuring a long, very steep ascent on rough, bouldery paths. The high ridge between the summits narrows to a rocky arete requiring basic scrambling, though a bypass path exists. Navigation can be challenging in mist, particularly when leaving the summits. The descent through the glen follows a path that is persistently boggy in places, especially near the burns.
