This classic southern Highlands outing climbs the twin Munros of Beinn Tulaichean and Cruach Àrdrain from the quiet glen of Inverlochlarig. The route offers a direct, steep ascent onto a scenic grassy ridge, linking both summits with straightforward walking before a rougher, pathless descent returns you to the glen floor.
Terrain and underfoot
The initial climb up Beinn Tulaichean is pathless, boggy, and sustained, requiring careful route-finding to avoid minor crags. A clear path links the two summits along the high ridge. The descent from the bealach back into Inverlochlarig Glen is exceptionally steep, rough, and largely pathless, with slabby rock and broken crags that demand careful footwork.
