Route overview
This exceptionally long and demanding expedition penetrates deep into the wild Fisherfield Forest to claim two distinctive Munros. Starting from Incheril, the route follows a lengthy approach past Lochan Fada before tackling the grassy slopes of Beinn Tarsuinn and the rugged, quartzite-capped dome of Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair. It offers an immersive, remote mountain experience for fit walkers.
Terrain and underfoot
The walk begins on excellent estate tracks, which can be cycled to ease the long approach. Beyond the tracks, the terrain becomes increasingly rough, wet, and faint. The ascent of Beinn Tarsuinn is largely on grassy slopes, whereas Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair demands a steep climb over rough sandstone and loose quartzite boulder fields. Navigating the high, pathless sections requires competence, and several burn crossings may become difficult after heavy rain.
