Rising steeply from the shores of Loch Hourn, Beinn Sgritheall is a compact but exceptionally steep Munro. Starting from the coastal village of Arnisdale, this route offers a direct, relentless climb to a high ridge. The reward is an unparalleled maritime panorama over Knoydart, Skye, and the Cuillin, before a steep descent and a scenic coastal road walk back.
Terrain and underfoot
The terrain is characterized by exceptionally steep, sustained slopes. Initial boggy paths give way to relentless grassy and scree-covered gradients leading to the ridge. The final approach to the summit is narrow and airy in places. The descent is similarly steep, following an eroded, winding path through woodland before returning via a flat tarmac road.
