Tucked away behind the grander Glen Etive peaks, Beinn nan Aighenan is a secluded Munro that offers a quieter, more introspective hillwalking experience. Approached via the scenic Allt Mheuran glen, the route features a dramatic drop and re-ascent from a high mountain pass, rewarding walkers with superb, unconventional views of Ben Starav and the Cruachan range.
Terrain and underfoot
The approach follows a mixture of hydro tracks and rough, often boggy glen paths. The ascent to the high pass is steep but on a clear trail. Beyond the bealach, the route descends rocky, slabby slopes before a final rugged climb to the summit. Navigation is generally straightforward in clear conditions, though care is required near the steep gorge of the Allt nam Meirleach.
