Beinn Fhionnlaidh
Beinn Fhionnlaidh from Glen Creran
Route overview
This rewarding out-and-back route climbs the long, undulating ridge of Beinn Fhionnlaidh from the quiet depths of Glen Creran. Offering a classic West Highland experience, the trail rises steadily to reveal superb coastal views over Loch Linnhe and the Firth of Lorn, culminating in a sharp, rocky summit with a dramatic panorama of the surrounding Glencoe and Glen Etive peaks.
Terrain and underfoot
The route begins on estate tracks before transitioning to a rough, increasingly steep hill path up the main ridge. Underfoot, the terrain is a mix of boggy sections on the lower slopes and stony, pathless ground higher up. Navigation is generally straightforward along the crest, though the undulating summit plateau requires care in poor visibility. There are no major river crossings, as the initial watercourse is bridged.
