Terrain and underfoot
Underfoot conditions are highly varied. The walk starts and finishes on well-maintained hydro tracks, transitioning to faint, grassy paths along the ridges. While the ridge walking is relatively straightforward, the final descent from Beinn Eunaich is notoriously steep, loose, and eroded, requiring careful footwork. The track crosses the Allt Lairig Ianachan, which is generally straightforward but can rise after heavy rain.

There is limited bridge-side parking soon after the A85 turning signed Stronmilchan, grid NN136287. The route starts by Allt Mhoille bridge on the B8077.

- Walk away from the A85 to the cattle-grid track and keep left rather than entering Castles Farm.
