Route overview
This classic two-Munro circuit from Bridge of Orchy offers expansive views across Rannoch Moor, Loch Tulla, and Loch Lyon. The route quickly gains height into impressive corries and onto broad ridges, providing a rewarding day out for hillwalkers. Beinn Dòrain, a famously admired peak, and Beinn an Dòthaidh combine for a varied and satisfying mountain experience.
Terrain and underfoot
The route begins on a lane and stony track before ascending broad paths through moorland into Coire an Dòthaidh. Expect rough paths and some wet sections, particularly around Coire Reidh. The ascent out of the corrie involves steeper sections, leading to slabby rocks and a grassier plateau on Beinn Dòrain's ridge. Navigation can be challenging in mist, especially on the broad, boggy slopes of Beinn an Dòthaidh. Several sections feature sustained steep gradients, both ascending and descending.
