This classic Southern Highlands outing climbs Beinn Chabhair from the Glen Falloch roadside. Starting with a steep, rugged ascent alongside the Ben Glas Burn, the route traverses open moorland before ascending a grassy gully to reach a scenic, undulating ridge. The summit offers superb, expansive views over Loch Lomond and the surrounding peaks.
Terrain and underfoot
The walk begins on a very steep, eroded, and stony path through dense lower vegetation. Higher up, the route crosses boggy moorland where the path can become indistinct, particularly around Lochan Beinn Chabhair. A clearer, steep path climbs a grassy gully to reach the ridge, which is undulating and rocky underfoot. Good navigational skills are required in poor visibility on the complex upper ridge.
