Route overview

This challenging circuit explores two Munros overlooking Rannoch Moor, offering expansive views across a wild landscape. The route combines initial tracks with open mountain terrain, ascending to prominent ridges and summits. It provides a rewarding day out for experienced hillwalkers, traversing varied ground and showcasing the remote beauty of the Argyll hills.

Terrain and underfoot

The route begins on tracks, transitioning to pathless, boggy sections through the Black Wood of Rannoch. Higher ground involves steep ascents and descents on grassy ridges, with some stony sections. Navigation can be demanding on open, pathless slopes and across plateaus, especially in poor visibility. Several river crossings are required, some potentially impassable in high water.
