Route overview
This classic linear traverse takes in three excellent Munros along the north side of Glen Shiel: Saileag, Sgurr a Bhealaich Dheirg, and Aonach Meadhoin. Offering superb ridge walking with expansive views across Kintail, the route features a very steep initial climb to gain the crest, followed by high-level walking and a rocky spur to the true summit of the central peak.
Terrain and underfoot
The route begins with a relentless, very steep ascent on a boggy path to gain Bealach an Lapain. Once on the ridge, a well-defined path makes for straightforward navigation along the crest. The spur to Sgurr a Bhealaich Dheirg's true summit is narrow and rocky, requiring basic care. The descent from Sgurr an Fhuarail is steep and grassy, leading back down to the glen floor.
