Route overview

This classic circuit explores the eastern half of the Ben Lawers range, taking in three distinct Munros. Starting near Loch Tay, the route climbs over the grassy shoulder of Meall Greigh, traverses the high ridge to Meall Garbh, and tackles the steep, rocky peak of An Stùc before descending past the scenic waters of Lochan nan Cat.

Terrain and underfoot

The route follows a mix of clear paths, faint hill tracks, and pathless grassy ridges. While much of the high-level walking is straightforward, the ascent of An Stùc requires a steep, loose scramble on eroded ground. The descent to Lochan nan Cat is also very steep and requires careful footwork. The return route from the lochan can be boggy in places, and several small burns must be crossed.
